The Life of a Nomad

Just as there is no way to obtain quick and easy weight loss, there is no quick and easy way through life transitions. As many of you know, I am no longer living in our family home. In order to make the break-up easier for all, and to begin building a new structure for the kids (and Casey and I), I am living at a variety of places - homes of friends and family who have generously taken me in. I have not moved out, and also have not moved in anywhere. I am a nomad. Right now, I find some humor in that. I probably will not for long. Eventually, I will need a place to call my own.

I will say that moving out has made the relationship between Casey and I better than it has been in quite some time. We can talk as respectful adults now, the tension is less, we can joke around with each other, and are being better co-parents than we have been in months...maybe years. I think we are both seeing that this is going to work, and end up good for us all. Keeping the kids as first priority underlies all of our communication, and I think it is working.

Thanks to those who have been sending kind words of support, and for the real life friends who are helping both of us through all of this craziness!

They always say "take one baby step at a time, and it will work"

Maybe this could be a rebirth for you and Casey in the fact so much time was lost when you were in law school. No jabs intended, maybe you can look for the things that you fell in love with about her and go on from there. I have been where you are....separated I left and we got to know each other again and eventually got back together. That was 10 yrs ago. Give it some time to settle and keep an open mind.

Been there done that good luck to both of you!

So glad that you are getting along so well. I have always thought that you both have such a great family and you both ROCK as parents!! Whatever happens in the future, you will always be family.
