Avatar - A Remarkable Experience

Has anyone out there not seen Avatar? If you have not, you must. If you still have the option to see it on the big screen, do it. Even better - if it is in 3D anywhere - see it that way. What an incredible experience seeing this beautiful, touching movie in 3D on the big screen.

These days, so many people have big, flat screen tvs with surround sound, maybe you can almost get a theatre experience at home. I hope so. This is one worth having.

OK, so the photo I chose to represent the movie is not really what the movie is all about. Sometimes, I choose photos just to make myself happy, and Michelle Rodriguez playing a hot-shot helicopter pilot definitely made me happy! *grin*

OK, got that out of the way. Now I will say that this is an amazing story of the beautiful way that all of life is connected and how love and compassion can cross barriers we may not have thought possible. It is about an ex-marine who learns to operate an "avatar," which is like an alien double of himself, in order to fit in with a local culture on a planet rich with a substance that humans want to exploit. He learns of their culture, their way of life, their planet, and more about himself than he ever bargained for.

I'm a bit too jacked up on coffee and the excitement of the day to go into the depth of description that this story truly deserves. I will say, buy it. Avatar is on sale all over the place now. It is going to be a classic and deserves to be watched over and over, not just for the cinematic beauty, but for the depth of the well-crafted, heartfelt storylines. Simply amazing.

Have I taught you nothing?! There is no such thing as an ex-Marine.

We agree Dakota. It was both a wonderful love story and a political statement that "our way is not always the right way" We too loved the movie and saw it in 3D. We think it is a keeper as well, but wish we had a TV that would let us enjoy it again in 3D.
